When I think of positivity, Tai & Chris enter my mind immediately. Then I met their families and could see why that is. There are so many wonderful things I can say about them, but the two things that really come to mind are positivity and strength. Anytime it seems like I’m the slightest bit overwhelmed, Tai is in my IG DMs hyping me up. They are both so so sweet and kind-hearted, and it was an absolute joy to be a witness to their marriage this past weekend!
Since they were doing a smaller elopement, I originally decided to combine their engagement session and wedding in one blog since I didn’t think I’d have a lot of content, but even in a short amount of time, I was somehow given the opportunity to capture so much beauty. We did their sweet first look, where if I recall correctly, ended in Chris saying “DAMNNN” kinda like this:
as he circled around her in disbelief! Not that she wasn’t beautiful the day before, but man, was that dress MEANT for her…and he knew it! In addition to her gorgeous dress, she had a long veil that just really completed her look. Plus, Tai’s sister and I had a lot of fun with it lol! And if that wasn’t enough, it was tied together by one of the most beautiful bouquets I’ve ever seen! I feel like I say that in every wedding blog, but floral designers are really on point this year! Angela of Angela’s Floral Design and I met last year when she opened up her new shop. When Tai & Chris were looking for a florist I knew exactly who they needed to call! She knows how much I love to incorporate loose florals in my detail photos so when I arrived the the airbnb, she hooked me up with a wide array of florals! Can we get back to this bouquet though? Wow. It had a combo of florals I’ve never seen, it even had leaves! Tai said she wanted a fall vibe, and I certainly think Angela delivered!
I think one of the highlights of the day was seeing the smile on Tai’s father’s face when he had my neck fan. He was feeling a little under the weather and for *some reason* I grabbed it as I left that morning. I still don’t know why, as I knew I would only be outside for a few hours, but something made me grab it on my way out. When I saw how hot & uncomfortable he was, I didn’t want him to have to go back to their airbnb, so I remembered I had it and grabbed it for him. It made him so happy, and it made me happy to see.
Washington Oaks State Park is a gorgeous location for photos of any kind, and the weather was just amazing! From the large oak tree in the middle, to the gazebos and bridges, there’s almost too much to get through in just 30 minutes. We did their engagement session at Casa Feliz, so they definitely got the best of both worlds when it comes to aesthetic. I was really excited to photograph their Indian attire too. It’s so colorful and sparkly, which is just a dream come true!
They really are two of the sweetest people. They knew I had a seafood allergy, and since they catered seafood, they gave me a gift card to pick up lunch on my way home afterwards and Mike’s favorite pastries. Who does that?! The topic of food came up at their engagement session when I learned Chris is a fellow New Yorker. He mentioned pizza and Junior’s cheesecake, and I was like, “You have to try this place by me, Tomasino’s!” They did not hesitate to try it out either lol!
Tai & Chris, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your journey. I can’t wait to see your marriage flourish! xo
